Miami Custom Wine Cellars: an Impressive Renovation Project by Vintage Cellars
Custom Wine Cellars Miami is a team of experts who offers innovative wine storage solutions for homeowners who want to have a safe, functional, and stylish wine storage room for their favorite vintages.
We work with top-notch builders like Vintage Cellars. In one of the projects they completed, they were contacted by the homeowners who needed help renovating the simple wine cellar and wet bar originally built by Vintage Cellars in the client’s living area. The old racking was made of wooden shelves where the wines were stored vertically.
They constructed the wine room about six years ago with simple features. Late on, the owners decided to renovate it. Jake Austad, the founder and CEO of the company, renovated the wine room, adding features that would add aesthetic value and functionality to the existing wine storage space.
Design Phase: a Crucial Step in Building Miami Custom Wine Cellars
Designing Miami custom wine cellars requires skills, experience, and creativity. The team of Vintage Cellars is composed of design specialists who have a passion for transforming spaces to the next level.
In this project, they created a wine storage system that could accommodate up to 700 bottles. They used various racking styles to achieve a higher bottle capacity and incorporated custom features to add character. The 3-dimensional drawings consist of different room elevations, racking dimensions, bottle configurations, and door placement. Vintage Cellars used wood, metal, and glass elements to achieve a distinctive look.
Combining Wood and Metal Wine Racks: Perfect for Designing Miami Custom Wine Cellars
Wine racks play a crucial role in the overall appeal of Miami custom wine cellars. Seeking the help of a design specialist will ensure that every detail of your requirements is met. With many years in the construction industry, Vintage Cellars has proven its reliability, professionalism, and expertise in building stunning wine cellars, always making sure that no small detail is missed. In this particular renovation project, they installed wood and metal wine racks.
Wood Wine Racks for a Traditional Feel
Wood is widely used in Miami custom wine cellars because of the relaxing ambiance and Earthy feel it creates. Vintage Cellars installed wood wine racks on the back and right walls. The back wall consists of half-height solid diamond bin wine racks with a tabletop, which provides a space for decanting and serving wines. Diamond bins are ideal for storing wines in bulk. Individual wine racks were added on both sides of the diamond bin racking.
Windows are not ideal in wine cellars because wine is sensitive to too much heat and light exposure. However, in this project, Jake added an exterior window just above the tabletop. Since there is no direct sunlight that gets into the wine room, the window does not pose any problem. Window treatment was not needed.
If you want to add a window to a wine room that received direct sun exposure, adding a blackout shade and framing it from the inside are recommended. The tabletop continues to the middle of the right wall, which consists of wine racks with floor-to-ceiling height.
In the top section, there are individual wine racks surrounding a wooden cover that hides the wine cooling unit. Vintage Cellars also added horizontal display racks to accommodate standard and large-format bottles sideways. The removable trays have a smaller tray at the front and a taller tray at the back, creating a beautiful cascading effect. Below this section is a high-reveal display row that pitches the bottles at an angle. The LED lighting system highlights these sections impressively.
The bottom section of the right wall includes wooden case storage bins that allow the clients to store wines in bulk. Runners were installed in each case to allow them to slide smoothly, preventing scratches on the wine racks. A 2-column individual wine rack was placed on both sides of the case storage.
Metal Wine Racks
Vintage Cellars installed label-forward metal wine racks from VintageView. The labels are facing out, allowing for easy perusal of the wines. VintageView’s wine storage systems are made from high-grade materials and create a modern look in wine rooms.
Glass Wine Cellar Door and Wall
The wine cellar door made of glass and steel was chosen for this wine room. It is facing the right side of the living room. The wall faces the living room is also made of arched glass to provide a good view of the client’s wine display from the living area.
Vintage Cellars utilized dual-paned glass panels to prevent condensation build-up inside the wine cellar. They also installed weather stripping to seal all the edges of the door, preventing the warm air from getting into the wine room and interfering with the cooling performance of the wine cooling unit. With correct insulation, your wine collection will be safe from spoilage caused by excessive temperature fluctuations.
Wine Cellar Cooling Unit
Wines need a stable environment to preserve their desirable characteristics. Vintage Cellars installs high-grade wine cooling systems from top-notch manufacturers. In this project, they used a Rack Mounted (RM) wine cooling system from LRC.
They placed the evaporator at the top section of the right wall of this wine cellar while the condenser is located outdoors.
